At the highest level, the Northwestern Water & Sewer District’s operations are under the direction of its Board of Directors.
These nine people on the board meet at least twice per month to review operations of the District with its senior managers, set policy and conduct legal business.
These nine are appointed to three-year terms each:
- Three are appointed by the member townships
- Three are appointed by the member municipalities
They elect new officers each year, set committees and have final authority on approving the water and sewer budgets and setting consumer rates.
Their roles and responsibilities are integral to the successful operations of the District, its staff and for its customers.
We have been lucky to have strong boards and great board members since the District was formed in 1994.
Attached are several documents new board members see as part of their orientation to the Board.
